At first, it was much faster than my older Logitech wired mouse, but this one was on the cheap side, so I may be comparing apples with oranges, as I'm no mouse expert. Anyway, I need to slide down one degree in sensitivity, on Windows.
The was too simple, with a bigger receiver, and the may be good, but I don't have previous experience with laser mice and I feel OK with opticals. This was the "sweet spot", I guess. As soon as I bought it alkaline that came with it , I tested and it was, at least, 1. See other reviews here for useful things to do with this functionality. I play UT with it. I'm not the best, but surely not the worst, and don't lose frags because of it.
I never lost any click, and it works very well on any surface that other opticals will. Also my mouse doesn't stay stable with the receiver attached to it, but this is expected, obviously.
With the receiver unattached, the mouse stays stable as it should be: The flatness of it when connected to the mouse is useless, because on that situation the mouse is turned off, and you won't use it anyway. Much better than increase the size of the mouse just to make it engulf the receiver completely, at the cost of size, which is an important thing on notebook accessories. I must say that people having a signal that is only a feet long are suffering interference from something else or just received a bad mouse.
And yes, it should come with a small carrying bag. So, I'm very satisfied with it. I accumulated a drawer-full of mice over a couple of decades, but this mouse, which I purchased from Amazon almost a year ago, is the best.
The removable wireless receiver is a dongle that snaps into the bottom of the mouse, making it easier to transport if you want to work on a neighbor's computer with your own mouse. The dongle is meant to save battery life it turns off the mouse when it is snapped into the bottom , but I leave my mouse on all the time and rarely have to change the battery anyway. I thought a "notebook" mouse might be too small, but out the size and shape of this mouse is better than my others.
This model, the , has a side-by-side scroll useful for spreadsheets and maps, and a magnifier button that I have used occasionally to get a closer look at a product picture on Amazon. The receiver can be six feet way under my desk but I never have any problems with reception. An alternative for those who want the Notebook Optical Mouse 's original receiver to be closer would be to attach it to a USB extension cord.
This mouse has no problems with XP, bit Vista, bit, or Windows 7. The only problem I have ever seen with this mouse was when it was its settings in Control Panel overlapped with those for the touchpad in an old laptop.
The settings for the mouse had to be re-entered manually every time the mouse was re-connected to the laptop. Those who are new to mouse installation might want to know that you should ignore the disc that comes with the mouse. Instead, download and install the latest driver from the Microsoft website before you plug the mouse receiver into the computer's USB port for the first time.
It's also useful to have a spare wired mouse handy so you can navigate when downloading the wireless mouse's drivers for the first time. One person found this helpful. This is an excellent product. As far as I'm concerned, buying a brand, model, higher or lower priced wireless mouse other than this one is a waste of time, money, and effort. This mouse has everything necessary to do everything necessary.
I went to the Microsoft website and downloaded the driver software for free and now all functions are activated and works wonderfully. The download took about two 2 minutes and I was working. This mouse is perfect. So perfect in fact that I actually purchased three 3 of them - not all for myself.
I gave away two 2 of them as gifts. The persons that received the mouse s were very delighted and grateful for the gift. If you are deciding to purchase a wireless mouse, then this one is the one! I received this mouse today from Amazon.
It works instantly - on my table as well as on the "Fellowes" mouse pad. It feels easier to maneuver than my Sony mouse and Dell mouse. The magnifying button is such a cool feature. The scroll wheel allows you to move in four directions - the feature I must have. The size is smaller than average. It may not be handy for above average hands. The middle scroll button does not work very well. I recently bought a Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse - Platinum M from Amazon and returned - because this mouse has a very big receiver plus the mouse is very big and awkward.
In conclusion - this mouse works smooth for me in office and for travel.
